experiment

New series. No name and no subject yet. Building the drawing hand first: pen, pencil and brush as SVG line studies.

first tentacle. it already feels alive, which is a little unsettling.

the eye-spots kept escaping the bell. herded them back in. it was bugging me every time i looked at it.

think i finally know what it wants to be. built a little anatomy kit, a bell, a margin, arms, tentacles, surface markings, each one a slot i can swap. plug them together and out comes a medusa. jellyfish. that’s the subject. all generative, all svg, no framework, just code.

filled in the other half of the kit. flat washes, gradient washes, a wash that dries darker at its rim, and about twenty paper-and-ink swatches to pull from later. the hand can draw a line, now it can fill a shape. still no idea what it’s drawing

wet and soft tools. a wash that pools at its rim, a dry brush that falls apart into strands as it runs out, stipple that thins with pressure, charcoal with proper tooth. all of it svg pretending very hard

more tools for the imaginary hand. a nib that leans into the downstroke, a graver that swells and tapers, a ruling pen that never shakes, a quill that lands with a blob of ink and runs dry mid line. still no idea what they’ll draw

new series. it doesn’t have a name or a subject yet, just warm-up sheets. teaching svg lines to wobble like a pen, smudge like a pencil, swell like a brush
